Description:The view is breathtaking. No need to walk to the beach (but you can in 10 minutes), just sit on the porch! Watch the lobster boats haul their traps, listen to the surf and the horn from the twin light houses of Thacher Island. This 7000 sq ft Rocky Shores Manor is perfect for a large family gathering. Built in 1905 during the Arts and Crafts Movement, this home is adorned with beautiful wood molding and floors, high ceilings and plenty of windows to take advantage of the view as well as let in plenty of light. Large living, dining rooms and fully stocked and applianced kitchen make it perfect for indoor gathering and feeding all. Each bedroom is ensuite with a full bath and two additional powder rooms on the first floor. Two of the bedrooms have their own separate entrances and there are two first floor ensuite bedrooms for those who have trouble navigating stairs. It's all here in a beautiful sea side mansion. You will return year after year as so many have. A very special place. Set up above the ocean, with a long, seldom used driveway makes the property safe for young children. Other Activities: Wildlife abounds here watch the song birds, sea birds, loons, and seals. Schooner sails and whale watching. The home was spacious, beautifully decorated, comfortable ...and the list goes on. The kitchen was perfect for entertaining, the house was meticulous, the are not enough words to describe the porch... I would rent this house again in a we did... We rented Rocky Shores for a family reunion that included 4 couples and 5 singles. We loved that everyone had their own room and private bath, the porch had plenty of rocking chairs and sofas for all and the view to the ocean with sunrises and moon rises was breathtaking. We loved the kitchen with appliances, dishes and cutlery, pots and pans galore. We loved the spacious downstairs and dining area where we all could eat. We loved the porch that seated 22 for a special lunch. We loved that the owners cared so much about their house and about the success of our stay. We loved that they were immediately responsive to any questions we had. This lovely, unique home and location contributed to a perfect, always-to-be remembered family reunion and vacation. Take in the raw beauty of the ocean: No neon lights here. Only the light houses of Thacher Island. An occasional car on this road is as busy as it gets. The only traffic around here are the lobster boats. Very safe haven for families with children. Nice and quiet for the adults. White sandy beach is a 1/2 mile away. Rocky beach within 100 yards. Restored 100 year old bed and breakfast with all the charm of a by-gone era. Feel the excitement build as you come up the hill approaching the Manor. For a brief time you will call THIS 'home.' Listen to the waves crash and whistle blow from the lighthouse as you unpack and anticipate your week ahead. Roam around a bit before everyone gets here and pick a bedroom - it may take a while.
