You are on your own separate level (floor) of the house. You can come and go any time you wish. * The 46th st. station for the subway trains (R and M lines) is less than a block away from our house (an easy 3 or 4 minute walk to the subway station) so it is very easy access to the NYC subway system. From the 46th st. station, it is approximately a 15 minute subway ride (4 stops) to the first stop in Manhattan (the Lexington station). *We think that Astoria is a hidden gem in the New York metropolitan area. *We enjoy hosting through roomorama. We have traveled extensively ourselves and we have fun meeting people and helping them in their travels. We also enjoy sharing our home, our neighborhood and our city with you. *Quiet....serene and very SAFE neighborhood. Garden in front yard and back yard. Wonderful, interesting neighborhood....... Front and back porches. Astoria is very close to midtown Manhattan and so it is an ideal location in which to enjoy NYC. This is especially true for our house because we are so close to a major subway stop and subway line. *Street parking is available for free and driveway parking is available for an extra $10.00 per day. It is relatively easy to park your car in our neighborhood. The beds are ikea beds. We have only heard positive comments about the mattress quality Neighborhood description:*Astoria is known as a Greek community (people from Greece live here). Our area of Astoria is a vibrant mix of greeks, italians, hipsters, brazilians, yuppies, japanese, chinese, and just about everyone else in the world is represented. It is fun and interesting to be mixed into the multi-culture atmosphere. Astoria is a small town atmosphere that is very close to Manhattan. Astoria is overflowing and loaded with restaurants, bars, clubs, shops. Just about anything that you would want to buy you can find it here. This neighborhood is one of the most up and coming and very popular in New York City. Some people describe Astoria as the east part of Midtown or the east side of the east side of Manhattan. It is very popular to move here to Astoria and it is difficult to find an apartment here now. It is easy and fun to walk around Astoria and soak in the many different subcultures of people within Astoria. You will find authentic and inexpensive restaurants from literally all over the world. There are coffee shops, pubs, bars, clubs and parks galore. *We have the peace of country-like living but very close to Manhattan. *Our backyard has a porch and barbeque area and a large garden. We have a front porch and a garden in front also. The sun hits the back porch in the a.m. and front porch in the p.m. It's a good home for having a great life in the city with room to live indoors and outdoors. *2 New Ikea beds with a queen size mattress (for two people each). The house includes the ground floor with a beautiful and peaceful back yard, there are two full size bedrooms and two full baths on the second floor, I rent out on a nightly basis to responsible, mature adults, who’d like an incredibly gorgeous and unique place to stay while visiting Manhattan, but think that paying $350 a night for a so-so hotel is insane. I don’t discriminate – I don’t care what you look like – but I do expect you would be pleasant, easy going, and clean. You should know I am a gay professional man, 36 years old. Not that that has any bearing on your stay in my home, but I would have to ask someone to leave for being a bigot. If you’re comfortable with that, then please do get in touch. Your stay includes an air-conditioned/heated private room, with private bath, fresh (and super soft) Ralph Lauren towels, optional private entrance, and access to an in-unit washer/dryer, flat-screen LCD/LED TVs, board games and DVDs, FREE Wi-Fi, all the cereal you can eat (until I run out), in-room mini-fridge, and in-room coffee/tea service. The bed is a very comfortable real queen sized bed with 800 thread count sheets. I have a gas grill in the backyard and your more than welcome to challenge me to a cook off. Iron Chef grill masters style! My house in only five minutes from the A/C and B/D lines offering express and local trains and three blocks away from the 1 local train. three block away from the 1. I am within walking distance to Yankee Stadium and Columbia University, and you can be in Times Square in 20 minutes by subway. The house is very easy to get to by subway from Grand Central, Penn Station and Port Authority. A cab ride from LaGuardia is relatively inexpensive (about $40), but the bus is even cheaper ($2.25) and drops you two blocks away. P.S. I will be home during your stay. This will be a shared-space situation, but with two floors and a backyard, you will definitely have plenty of space to help make your trip to NYC fun, and inexpensive. I have already met some great guests from the other side of the world and the experience has been fantastic.

It is not on the street side, so it's quiet and internet is set up and included. Kitchen is stocked with the basics so you can cook while staying in NYC. This apartment can sleep 2 people and we can add a cot if you're looking to have a 3rd person, just ask! Located in the heart of the East Village, this apartment is very centrally located. Only 2 blocks from the F subway line and the organic Wholefoods Supermarket, this apartment is convenient for those looking to really explore what NYC is about while staying in Manhattan! East Village is great for nightlife, fine dining, foodie cravings and cultural adventures. Chinatown and Little Italy are close by, giving you the chance to explore one of the best cultural areas of the city. The Lower East Side and East Village are full of small restaurants to cater to every pallet and budget. Just north is NYU and Cooper University if you're visiting colleges or want to check out the college scene. To the west is the Village, an area renowned for it's upscale shopping, beautiful homes and history. Street parking in the East Village is much easier than in midtown. If you plan on driving, let us know and we can give you some helpful pointers. Note: We've recently lowered the price from $175/night to $120/night as I saw a mouse the other day.
