The fifty-foot porch has a view of the creek from the Adirondacks chairs. This Fachwerk home was originally built in Seguin and moved to this location. Additions to the original home are made in limestone and plaster construction. The Bungalow setting looks as though a German pioneer had carefully placed the home. n n n r n tFrom the porch you enter the living room-dining room where you will find the fireplace in the Fachwerk wall with large windows at the second floor level -- to let in the morning sun. The hearth of the fireplace is one large carved limestone rock. Original beams cross the ceiling of this large room and along with the primitive antique furnishings give the feeling of days long past. (Your host has made sure all the comforts of modern-day living are available for your stay). n n n r n tThere are two bedrooms downstairs each have a queen bed and each is spacious and light The two (downstairs) baths have sinks set in antique furniture to make the most unique of cabinets with towel racks and the shower for two in the master bath is truly a special design. Upstairs are two bedrooms ideal for children. The ceilings are pitched and one bedroom looks down over the living room and the fireplace. A double bed is in one bedroom and the other has two twin beds. The kitchen has a wood stove and cabinets built have weathered wood with leather hinges and screen panels. Large antique baskets and other antique kitchen items attract your attention before you notice the modern stove, refrigerator. n n n r n tMore than 8 people? Behind the Main House is a Bunkhouse which has 6 twin beds, two silos each sleeping 4 persons with a queen and double bed. Hill Country Bungalow sleeps up to 22 people. There is also a swimming pool built to look like an old stock tank. Guests also enjoy the llamas on the property. nIf furniture is moved in the house or to and from the game room a charge will be applied to your credit card—when this is done someone extra must be hired to move back to the appropriate place. n n n n n r n t

Description:Having visited Maine and the Adirondack region of New York, there were a number of characteristics we incorporated into The Lodge. n nThe beauty of the small lake just outside the back door, deer wandering through the yard, and pine trees whispering in Texas breezes create a rejuvenating sanctuary. n nThe Lodge has a 60-foot room that is arranged in a manner to accommodate small weddings, receptions, family get-togethers, conferences, or just a private retreat. This room has walls with something close to German fachwork, bountiful wooden windows looking out on the lake, a massive fireplace, great wagonwheel light fixtures with antlers, a wall that displays various shutters retrieved from a Columbus historic building, and a lovely, revived pine floor. n nLots of cedar from the area has been used for shutters and wrapping of columns. One bathroom is camouflaged to provide a huntere28099s comfort. Another bathroom is finished in burnt orange as honor to a son that played for the University of Texas. n nNarrow shutters from the Texas capital in Austin are now used as a closet door. Old swinging doors have been made into shower doors in a couple of bathrooms. The list is long, but one of the smartest ideas was the addition of a giant screened-in porch reaching out to the lake. Texas breezes are treasured and one can step from the Lake Room or the kitchen and capture the outdoors immediately. n nAll in all, we've created an incredibly comfortable and eclectic lodge atmoshere that's perfect for a wide variety of uses. The master has a huge walk in shower with a river rock floor, and the bedroom across the hall has a whirlpool tub for two. Beds are pillow top mattresses and all are finely appointed with new pillows and European style duvets. Ultra soft microfiber blend hotel towels await you in each bath. The chef inspired kitchen is enormous, with all the room you need for cooking large family meals, and there is so much granite topped counter space you should have no trouble getting lots of help with the preparations. The rest of the downstairs is a huge open floor plan, with hardwood floors throughout and huge windows that let the light in while offering beautiful hill country views in every direction. Furniture is authentic vintage 60's and has all been freshly upholstered in rich fabrics for a very hip and stylish look. In my previous business career, I spent over 2000 nights in hotels. I vowed when I started this project, that I would take the best of what I learned from those trips, and create the finest accommodation that I could. Activities available nearby include over half a dozen world class golf courses, winery tours, horseback riding, boating and watersports, shooting sports, and an off road adventure park just around the corner.
