Description:Black Bear Lodge is a 3800 square foot knotty pine paneled log cabin, comprising two main floors and a loft. It was completed in the fall of 2008 and welcomed its first guests in December 2008. It sits at an elevation of approximately 4000e28099 and, from virtually every room, has unsurpassed and unobstructed majestic views of the mountain ranges and valleys as far away as forty miles to the north. n nThe main floor contains the spacious post-and-beam Great Room with soaring ceilings, a window wall open to the wrap-around covered deck overlooking the distant mountains, a wood-burning stone fireplace, game table, and a cozy sitting area for the wall-mounted 46e2809d flat screen HDTV with a six speaker Blueray surround sound system for BDs, DVDs or CDs as well as an Ipod docking station to play your personal music collection. Just off the great room is the commodious gourmet kitchen with honed granite counter tops, abundant cabinet space and top-of-the-line built in stainless appliances, including a four burner gas cook top and oven, and a large prep island with built-in microwave and additional seating. The adjacent dining room was designed to seat eight comfortably around a large oak farm table. From the kitchen, you can enter the windowed laundry room with modern front-loading washer and dryer. Also on the main floor is a powder room and a very large master bedroom with king bed, private en suite master bath, raised pine ceiling and direct access to the covered back deck. n nImagine yourself resting comfortably in the softness of the cushions in the great room, your favorite book in hand, the soothing warmth from the crackling fireplace, the snow covered mountains out your window reminding you of another place and time, the quiet images brought on by the surround sound stereo, the smell of baking in the nearby kitchen. As they say,,,it doesne28099t get much better than this! n nOn the second floor is the loft, reserved for another master bedroom suite with a log frame queen bed nestled under twin skylights in the pine-paneled vaulted ceiling, and a very private en suite master bath containing a separate glass-enclosed stall shower and a raised Kohler Airjet soaking tub with 110 air jets to soothe both body and mind. n nThe lower level has voluminous 9 c2bd foot ceilings and contains an additional spacious and beautifully-appointed country chic master bedroom with a queen bed and comfortable sitting area, a fourth bedroom for the kids with foosball table, twin bunk beds and a separate twin bed, a large master-style bathroom with double vanity and glass-enclosed tub/shower and, to relax and entertain the guests, an enormous, deluxe recreation room with a Minnesota Fats pool table, a 52e2809d flat screen HDTV and its own private covered deck with sumptuous hot tub overlooking the distant mountains. Who could ask for more in a North Carolina mountain retreat? n nEach of the cabins' bathrooms has a granite vanity top with two sinks and rustic cross-handled faucet sets and antique barnwood-framed mirror above. Each also has an enclosed toilet room for the ultimate in comfort and privacy. n nThe cabinse28099 ample heating and air conditioning systems have three separate zones, each with its own thermostat, so that each living area can be regulated to achieve the desired climate for your personal comfort. n nThe floors of the cabin are made of rustic wide-plank knotty yellow pine that have been carefully stained and oiled to remind you of days long gone when mountain homes were crafted entirely by hand from available materials. In keeping with this spirit of self-sufficiency the mantel over the fireplace, the sofa table in the great room, the serving shelf in the dining room and the small shelf in the lower hallway all were hand-crafted by a local artisan from a tall, regal cherry tree that was felled to make room for the cabin. n nBlack Bear Lodge has paved access until approximately the last two miles, which alternate between pavement and gravel. n nFor larger groups, consider renting this cabin with nearby Van Beek's Peak or Farallon. n n n
