Description:The house is in the Alpujarra region of the southern foothills of the Sierra Nevada. The Alpujarra, with the cleanest air in Europe, used to be the market garden of Granada and has extensive irrigation. As a result there is always greenery. We are about 40 minutes from both the Mediterranean and Granada. The house has superb mountain views. It is cooled in the summer and heated in the winter. In spring it is like summer in the UK. In summer it is hot to very hot but insulation, air conditioning and a very large pool make it very pleasant. Autumn is again like a UK summer. Winter is like a UK spring with cool to cold nights and usually warm days. The house is warm and comfortable but you can usually lunch on the terrace in shirt sleeves or a light sweater. My children swam at Christmas but I wouldn't recommend it. From November to March skiing is only about 80 minutes drive away 6000 feet higher up the Sierra. The beds are 2.30 metres, that is 7'6', long and the double beds are 6' wide. All you have to do is plug your laptop into the ethernet cable and you are connected. We also have two VoIP telephones which work independently of a computer and provide cheap world wide connection to land lines. Maid service or a cook can usually be arranged at an extra fee. Lights in the pool, by the pool, by the barbeque and on the terrace all switched from inside the house. The terrace lights are good enough to eat or play cards by at night. A 3 mtre wide terrace extends round half the house Virtually everything you could need except beach towels. The hob actually has five rings. The house is set up for all year round comfortable living. It is well insulated and the heating system makes it warm in winter and cool in the summer. The kitchen is well stocked with appliances, condiments, spices and so on. You could live here in comfort for an extended stay rather than just a holididay Additional information about rental rates Deposit of 30% at time of booking for all except High Season bookings at 50% deposit. This is also located opposite the main hospital with all modern facilities.There are a wide selection of restaurants, bars and cafes to choose from in the port. Plaza Varadero, is one among other squares, were you can sit and relax over a cup of coffee or a beer and free tapas or get a meal during the day and evening.Tourist Information:The local tourist office is situated next to the Copo Commercial Centre.Here you will find a good range of literature and maps about Almerimar and the surrounding areas along with places of interest to visit and activities available. Open Sunday around Christmas.Almeria Castle (Alcazaba) & Cathedral Approximately 45 mins drive to Almeria City you will find plenty of places of interest. The moorish castle (Alcazaba) and the cathedral are worth a visit.The Alcazaba is open from the 16th June to 30th September from 10.00 - 14.00 and 17.00 - 20.00. From the 1st October to 15th of June it's open from 9.30 - 14.30 and 15.30 - 19.00. Free entrance.Shopping/Local markets:as well as the local supermarkets within Almerimar, the town of El Ejido has good shopping and is typically very Spanish.At Roquetas de Mar, approximately 20 minute drive away, there is a large shopping complex called Gran Plaza which hosts a vast range of clothes, shoes, jewellery. homewares, electrical and computer goods.There are many markets within driving distance of Almerimar. Most of them start around 10am and finish by 2pm so don´t leave it too late to arrive. The markets are open every week except for the last Sunday, Weds, Thurs of each month.
