Description:Dreaming of Italy? Come and stay with us at the beautiful Porta della Fiera, our Italian artist escape in a medieval 1300’s tower! Our guest house is located in the medieval hillside town of Narni, which has an underground city, castle and amazing restaurants to explore. The tower is perched atop an ancient archway, with a view of Narni’s castle, “La Rocca” from one side and a lush green valley on the other. Grape vines wrap themselves around the trellis along the walkway, fruit trees blossom in the yard and we have begun preparing and planting a new permaculture garden on the property. The apartment itself is quirky and quaint in its european simplicity. There are two bedrooms–a master bedroom, and the “traveler’s cantina,” which are both currently available. The master bedroom is beautifully furnished with antique wood furniture and overlooks the valley below Narni. The traveler’s cantina are steeped in rugged Umbrian charm. Inside, there are two twin beds and a secret door in the room leads to an ancient stone spiral stairway that leads down to a peephole and meditation/​contemplation space in the side of the tower. This situation is ideal for backpackers and low-key travelers who want an authentic Italian experience and a simple but whimsical room in a beautiful ancient hillside town. 5 minute bus ride (or 15 minute walk) to the Narni-Amelia train station, 10 minute walk to the center of Narni. The Narni-Amelia train station is a conveniant 55 minute train ride to the heart of Rome. There is a shared kitchen and bathroom in the main apartment upstairs, and we ask that you please be respectful of the other artists using the space and always clean up after yourself when cooking or using the upstairs rooms. We ask that you observe quiet hours between 10pm and 7am to make sure other artists and our neighbors aren't disturbed by noise. There is a designated shelf in the fridge and cupboard for you to store your food. ***Please note that we are in the process of raising money to install a permanent shower in the bathroom, and in the meanwhile there is a shower attachment and basin for you to take a short shower in. It's a bit rustic, but it works! The cost of renting the tower is extremely low due to shower, and is an amazing steal if you can deal with a strange shower setup!*** We only book stays of 3 nights or more.
