In 2007 we did a complete evaluation of Blue Skies and we liked what we saw, so in August of 2007 we added this villa to our rental portfolio. nA summary of what we like about this villa includes, n* Its Location. This is a very convenient, primo location in one of St Johne28099s classic residential neighborhoods. You can walk to the beach, restaurants, and cabs at the Westin Resort. Youe28099re close (5-7 minutes) to Cruz Bay, yet youe28099re tucked into a peaceful hillside with very good privacy and delightful views. n* The Multiple Views. Very few villas have 3 entirely different views. This is one of the lucky ones, with scenic views to the west, north and east. The east exposure insures refreshing trade winds, the scenic west view takes in St. Thomas, Hans Lollick and colorful sunsets, and the boats and harbor view to the north is quite picturesque. n* The Sun and Water Factor. With a large (27 x 13 foot) pool, and a pool deck with Bose speakers, full body tanning, and all day sun, this is definitely a house for sunshine and pool lovers. For those who prefer sand and salt water, you have walking access to a white sand beach and 80 degree waters. Blue Skies also has member privileges at the small boat landing below your house, so if you rent a boat you can land or anchor there and easily walk to your villa. n* Ite28099s flexible. Blue Skies is comfortable and large enough for 8 people, or we can lock off the guest cottage and rent the main house to 2-4 people. The pricing and the floor plan easily accommodates couples and families. nThe view from the upper deck, looking north nGUEST COMMENTS n* We had a wonderful visit at Blue Skies - our second time, and hopefully, not our last. Everyone was very satisfied with the accommodations and we were happy to see the renovations made since our last visit in 2009 (most notably, the exterior doors, dining table and updates in the cottage). Please thank the owners for opening up their beautiful villa to us. We feel like it's our home-away-from-home. n* This house is perfect for four couples. The kitchen is well stocked. All appliances worked. Landscaping is beautiful and large deck with breathtaking views was well used, as was your library. Blue Skies is located in Great Cruz Bay, on the south side of the harbor about a 1/8 mile down the road from Gull Cottage and Splash. Great Cruz Bay has always been, and remains, an upscale and preferred neighborhood that is very popular with our guests. nBlue Skies sits on a small hill overlooking the harbor, about 120 yards back from the water and 90 feet above sea level. This setting gives you three different and picturesque views. To the east lies Chocolate Hole Harbor and the south shore, to the west are colorful sunsets and views of St. Thomas, while the scenic north view looks out at sailboats floating on Great Cruz Bay. It's a short drive (6-7 minutes) on paved roads to the restaurants and boutiques of Cruz Bay. Ite28099s also a short walk (5-7 minutes) to the three restaurants, beach, fitness facilities, spa and shops at the Westin Resort. Despite being very convenient, this location is also quite relaxing, private and peaceful. nDESIGN. This is a 2-level, 2-building design with the living/dining and kitchen areas and two bedrooms/baths in the great house, while the other 2 bedrooms/baths are in the guest cottage on the lower level. You park below the great house and ascend stairs to the deck of the great house and enter into the great room. Decks wrap around the great house and the guest cottage and give you 200 degree views, all day sunshine and cooling breezes. There is a cable color 32e2809d flat screen TV with DVD and a stereo/CD. nYou may dine in the main house, or on either deck. nThe living room, looking at St Thomas nKITCHEN. A small bar separates the kitchen from the great room. The kitchen has everything you need to prepare tasty meals, including a microwave oven, electric stove and oven, refrigerator/freezer, toaster oven, coffee maker, blender, pots and pans, and assorted kitchenware. A gas BBQ grill, telephone and beach chairs are also included. The guest pavilion also has a small kitchenette. A washer/dryer are located in the laundry room. nThe kitchen nThe dining and kitchen area nBEDROOMS. The two bedrooms in the great house have king beds while the two bedrooms in the guest cottage have queens. All four bedrooms are air conditioned, and they are fully screened if you prefer the natural air conditioning of the trade winds. All the bedrooms are tiled and have a tiled bath and shower, and all have a small private deck or patio off the rear of the bedroom. Description:LOCATION. South Palm is located in the exclusive Virgin Grand Estates, which is a neighborhood of recently built, high-quality, multi million dollar vacation homes. South Palm sits at an elevation of about 290 feet with very pretty views of Great Cruz Bay, the Caribbean Sea, St. Thomas and other islands off in the distance. Youe28099ll also enjoy colorful sunset views and the twinkling lights of St. Thomas at night. As of 2013, South Palm has only one other house on its drive and it has no abutting neighbors. This is a very peaceful and private location with very little traffic and discreet clothing optional sunbathing. This is also a villa for sun lover's, with sun on the pool deck from early morning to sunset. Ite28099s a 5 minute walk to the beach, restaurants, fitness room, spa and shops at the Westin Beach Resort, below you, but if you linger at the beach bar, ite28099s a bit longer walking up the hill. Of all the Virgin Grand Estates homes, South Palm has the easiest walk to the Westin. The many restaurants, bars, shops and other delights of the village of Cruz Bay are a 10-15 minute drive, entirely on paved roads. nDESIGN. South Palme28099s owner is a professional homebuilder who spent many years planning this home, which was completed in the summer of 2006. The attractive and functional 3-level design seen here is somewhat similar to the design of its popular Virgin Grand neighbor, Vista Caribe. South Palm has multiple exterior rooflines, but the 2800 sq/ft interior is all under one roof. The design incorporates many classic architectural features such as tiled roofs, beamed cathedral ceilings, coral stone floors, Doric columns, French doors under arched windows and a 750 sq/ft covered veranda (deck) on the villae28099s south and east sides, and an 1100 sq/ft antique brick pool deck. nYou park above the house and descend stairs to the main level and enter into the great room. The kitchen, powder room and dining areas adjoin the great room, and multiple French doors open to the tiled and covered decks. Off the deck, exterior stairs lead down a half level to the pool and an 1100 sq/ft brick sun deck. There is one bedroom/bath and private balcony on the main level, and a second bedroom/bath and private balcony is on the 3rd (upper) level. The other two master bedrooms are on the lower level and open to a sun terrace that is below the pool level. South Palm also has an internet high speed connection (satellite modem). nThe interior dining area has a mahogany table that seats 10. There are also tables and chair sets that seat 6 on the pool deck, a few steps from the built in outdoor gas grill. nThe great room nThe living room nKITCHEN. There is a half bath (powder room) and a handsome laundry room off the kitchen. A built in gas grill is outside the kitchen on the deck, protected from the occasional shower. nThe kitchen nBEDROOMS. Each air conditioned bedroom is identical in size and all face southwest to capture the views through screened French doors. All the bedrooms have king beds, a satellite TV in an armoire and adequate closet space. Each has a tiled bath with granite counters, Brazilian cherry cabinets, copper sinks and bronze fixtures, and an oversized shower. Three of the bedrooms also have coral stone outdoor showers. The upper level and main level bedrooms have private balconies while the two lower level bedrooms share a private 450 sq ft brick sun terrace with access to the pool. The owner of South Palm is an experienced custom homebuilder who oversaw the design and construction of his island home. This seems to be a theme at the Virgin Grand Estates, where beautiful homes like Rapture, Ce28099est Blue, and Vista Caribe were all built by different owners who are luxury home builders. Description:LOCATION. Splash is located in a highly desirable beachfront setting a few feet from the tranquil, sparkling waters of Great Cruz Bay Harbor. This is an upscale neighborhood of luxury villas, but only a handful of these villas are fortunate enough to be beachfront properties. The views from Splash are lovely with sailboats floating peacefully on the palm fringed bay in the foreground, and picturesque views of Pillsbury Sound, St. Thomas and blazing sunsets in the background. It 's a short drive (5 minutes) on paved roads to the restaurants and boutiques of Cruz Bay. Ite28099s also a short walk (5 minutes) to the three restaurants, beach, fitness facilities and shops at the Westin Resort, but Splash remains a world removed from this upscale resort. For those who love to be in and on the Caribbean, this is truly a marvelous setting. nDESIGN. Splash was originally built as a custom designed beach house, and it has recently been remodeled to become a much more refined villa. With its floor to ceiling stone walls, wide board mahogany floors, skylights, antique and custom built furniture, interior and exterior gardens, and lovely dc3a9cor Splash has become a very appealing and exceedingly enjoyable vacation home. This is essentially a one level home, with the crowe28099s nest bedroom being the only room on the upper level. You enter into the great room, with its interior pool, kitchen, dining and living areas, all with wonderful views and a very tasteful dc3a9cor, and all at ground level. The master bedroom and the guest bedroom are located on opposite ends of the great room and offer excellent privacy. nSplash has three distinct deck/patios plus a small beach area. The main deck is located off the great room and has exquisite views, comfortable furniture and dining for 6 at an umbrella table. A half level below the sun deck on the east side of Splash is a private patio that is tucked away under tall palm trees. This romantic hideaway contains the basics for island limin (relaxing), an outdoor shower, a hammock and a table for 4. The sun patio is also a half level below the great room and consists of sand, lounge chairs, sunshine and great harbor views. The Caribbean is a half level below the patios and is accessed by stairs that descend from the storm surge stone wall. nLIVING/DINING. The living room has very comfortable, sink e28093 into - it furniture to snuggle into and enjoy the view. A wall of windows looks out on the harbor and a screened door off the living room opens to the main deck and its cushioned sofa chairs. For entertainment, this room includes a 37 inch high definition TV with DVD and VCR, and a stereo with a 5 disc CD. nFor exterior dining you have a choice of dining outside on the sun deck at the table for 4-6 (photo 5) or under the palms at a private and cozy table for 4 (photo 2). The interior dining room is one of our favorites on St John (photo 11). It is a step below the kitchen and a few steps above the water, with a teak table that seats 6-8. There are screens on three sides of the dining room, so the picture postcard views surround you and the soft breezes caress you. As you sit here in the morning, coffee in hand, and with the early sunshine reflecting off the boats in the harbor, the feeling of peacefulness and tranquility is just magic. This is a great place to start another day in the islands. At night, with the water 25 feet from your table, ite28099s like dining on a boat in the harbor, without the roll. This is a very memorable and romantic place to dine. nKITCHEN. The kitchen is separated from the pool area and living room by a large mahogany bar, complete with bar chairs and a comical cookie jar with questionable manners. This is a fully equipped kitchen with a refrigerator, 4-burner gas range and oven, dishwasher, microwave oven, blender, toaster, coffee maker, etc. There is a washer/dryer off the kitchen and a gas barbeque grill on the deck. nBEDROOMS. The bedrooms are decorated in a colorful Caribbean style. There are 3 bedrooms which have interior access. The air conditioned master bedroom has a romantic dc3a9cor with a king bed, stone walls, cathedral ceiling, cable TV and tiled bath and shower. The air conditioned guest bedroom has 2 twins that convert to a king. The newly added 3rd bedroom has a/c and 1 set of bunk beds. This 3rd bedroom is a great option for families traveling with young children. The exterior access crowsnest bedroom has to be one of St. Johne28099s most unique and fascinating bedrooms. Ite28099s on the upper (rooftop) level and is accessed by a spiral stair case. The view is superb, and the dc3a9cor is vibrant and tropical. The master bedroom, twin guest bedroom and crowsnest bedroom are quite private and each has a tiled bath and shower. nPOOL.The pool at Splash is different, ite28099s inside the villa and is bordered by floor to ceiling stone walls with a large skylight directly above. The tropical sun beams in and warms the stone walls which then act as a heat sink to keep the water comfortably warm well into the night. There are relaxing seats built into the pool and guests tell us that they spend hours in the pool, mostly at night, just sitting, drinking, talking and enjoying this unique setting. nCARIBBEAN VILLAS ' COMMENTS. We were very pleased to add this unique home to our portfolio in the summer of 2005, for Splash is that rare find that so many of our clients are looking for - a beautiful, very well equipped home in a beachfront setting. nThis location really is superb. Although youe28099d never know it, youe28099re only 5 minutes from Cruz Bay and some of the Caribbeane28099s finest dining. Even better, youe28099re about 10 seconds from swimming and snorkeling in the tranquil, 82 degree Caribbean waters. In addition, you have access to the deep water anchorages of Great Cruz Bay, allowing you to add boating activities to the pleasures of a luxury villa. Youe28099re so close to the Caribbean that ite28099s almost like being on a boat, and the nautical sights and sounds of this usually quite harbor are wonderful. nThe house itself is much like the location, beautiful and alluring. This is a vacation home that has it all, a pool, a/c, lovely furnishings, lush landscaping, moderate privacy, sunsets and picture postcard views. Splash has been very thoughtfully decorated and the overall effect is quite lovely and inviting. In the early 1990e28099s we offered Splash in our rental portfolio and it was a very popular home. From 2000 - 2005 Splash was extensively remodeled and it is now a much more comfortable and modern home. Ite28099s not often that we discover a home that is fanciful and fun and also classy and elegant, but Splash is that rare combination. nThis is a great villa for families with kids, especially kids (of any age) who love to play in the water. The warm, exceptionally romantic ambiance of this villa also makes it one of our top recommendations for honeymooners and lovers. Ite28099s a memory maker.
